The eight-storey 19th century Grade II listed building on Old Broad Street is right in the heart of the City of London, being just a few minutes’ walk from Bank tube station and in the shadow of the Shard. Lion Plaza’s prime location is now matched by its fresh new interior including all important staff shower and changing facilities and bike store area, following a recent refurbishment to refresh and upgrade its facilities and common areas.

Working with the Overbury team on this project we delivered a complete washroom, shower and changing area package with a fresh look and simple palette of materials and finishes resulting in a clean, crisp design throughout.

The staff shower and changing areas have been designed to be a comfortable and private space which is functional and stylish in equal measure. We manufactured each large shower cubicle full height, with over the door panels installed to ensure the cubicles extended fully from floor to ceiling. Behind the Egger Vincenza Oak veneer cubicle doors, each cubicle contains a glass shower cubicle with magnetic seals as well as plenty of space for dry changing.

We also installed our Forza lockers which were specified in a Z-shaped configuration to ensure each one could comfortably accommodate a suit and completed with Ojmar combi locks with integrated handle. Manufactured from hardwearing solid grade laminate doors and aluminium carcasses, we finished the lockers and surrounding panels with Formica high pressure laminate. The F7927 Folkestone soft grey colour Formica perfectly complements the Durasein grey marble effect vanity units and make up shelves we also manufactured and installed. The bespoke slatted oak benching runs beneath the lockers and ties the different elements of the design together.

The newly refurbished washrooms mirror the shower and changing area design with much of the same materials, finishes and colours also specified to create a cohesive space.

Here we installed our popular full height Alto HPL cubicles with over panels to ensure the flush fronted cubicles provided full floor to ceiling coverage for complete privacy. The cubicle doors were faced in the same Egger finish as specified in the shower and changing areas. The Vincenza Oak from the Decorative Collection is described as being an elegant version of a rift cut oak with a striking woodgrain structure – offering a highly realistic finish but with the additional performance benefits of a laminate it means the cubicles are easy to clean and maintain. The same Egger surface was used for the Concerto integrated duct panels behind each WC.

As in the shower areas, we used acrylic solid surface from Durasein to create the bespoke trough-style vanity units in the washrooms. The light grey Nightfall shade specified has a veined appearance creating a marble effect finish. Above each vanity we installed our Tego hinged mirror units with space to store washroom consumables such as soap and paper towels.
