This office redevelopment project is located at Kings Cross in London, just around the corner from 23 Heddon Road – the exact spot where David Bowie was photographed on a cold January evening for the cover of his album, ‘The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and The Spiders from Mars’ in 1972. The project was agreed the same day David Bowie died, so was aptly named “Ziggy Stardust” as a tribute.

The original warehouse style of the building has been preserved and is highlighted through the interior design to provide a modern office space with character. The new washrooms were specified with an almost completely white colour scheme to create a contemporary high specification space.

Our highly engineered Marcato toilet cubicles were manufactured from high pressure laminate in a crisp white colour and finished with stainless steel locks, grab handles and coat hooks. The cubicles also feature a satin anodised aluminium flat bar headrail and pedestal legs.

The flush fronted and rebated finish of the Marcato cubicle range ensures the division panels and doors meet edge to edge for maximum privacy. For this particular project the cubicle doors were manufactured full height to ensure minimal floor and ceiling clearance.

We also designed and manufactured the bespoke white Corian trough style vanity units and installed them along with glass splashbacks and wall-mounted taps. Manufactured from a single piece of Corian, the minimalist design boasts clean lines and a sleek profile. The slight slope of the unit beneath the taps ensures water runs away to keep the washroom areas clean and tidy.

Above the vanities we installed our new Tego hinged mirror system, which as well as adding to the sleek style of the washroom, also provides a practical concealed storage solution for washroom consumables such as paper towels and soap. The flexible Tego system can be tailored to suit any project. In this case the mirrors were back-lit to reveal the etched symbols which highlight where the soap and paper towels can be found.

Our Concerto integrated duct panel system, which was faced with walnut effect laminate, completes the washroom design. The Concerto duct panels are easy-to-clean and also allow for ease of access for future maintenance, whether planned or reactive.
