Vibrant reception and toilet cubicles at Sutton Sports Village
We’ve given a local leisure centre’s newly opened Trampoline and Play park a vibrant new look with a bright orange reception desk and matching toilet cubicles.
Located just a short walk from Sutton Common train station, Sutton Sports Village offers a range of facilities including Sutton’s very first Trampoline and Play park, which has recently opened to the public. The sports village is owned and managed by GLL and has been designed to cater for all ages and abilities. We’ve worked with GLL in recent years carrying out a number of washroom and changing area refurbishments including the Chelsea Sports Centre and Brixton Leisure Centre projects and we were more than happy to work closely with the team once again on this project.
Working with the GLL team we designed, manufactured and installed new washrooms and fitted out the reception area specifically for the new Trampoline and Play Park at Sutton Sports Village. The team specified the use of a vivid shade of orange throughout the new park in order to give the new space a vibrant and fun style for children to enjoy. An energetic colour tone, orange can be used to create a sense of excitement, enthusiasm and warmth – making it the perfect choice for an active leisure centre.
One of the key requirements of this project was ensuring it would be accessible for all. With this in mind, we installed two different sized washroom cubicles; one with half-height doors for younger children, disabled toilets with outwards opening doors and we also ensured the pilasters provided a colour contrast to the cubicle doors to assist any partially sighted visitors to the centre.
We installed our popular Forte toilet cubicles, faced with Solid Grade Laminate (SGL) in a vivid orange colour together with contrasting dark vertical woodgrain and ‘D’ shaped satin anodised aluminium headrail and pedestal legs for an attractive yet highly durable finish. Each toilet cubicle also features our full height Concerto integrated duct panelling system, again finished in the same bright orange SGL. As well as concealing unsightly pipework, the duct panelling is easy to clean and will allow for ease of access for any planned or reactive future maintenance.
For younger visitors to the centre we installed the same Forte SGL toilet cubicles with the same colour scheming but with half height cubicle doors and curved, half-height partitions to provide privacy while allowing for supervision where required and ensuring children feel at ease. The children’s facilities were completed with half height vanity units, again manufactured from SGL in the same orange shade.
Completing the project, we designed and installed two bespoke reception desks, with one for welcoming visitors and a second adjacent desk for providing visitors with socks needed for use within the trampoline park. We also manufactured bespoke iPad desks for visitors to register themselves for a session on arrival at the centre. All the items were faced in hard-wearing high pressure laminate in the same vivid orange used in each of the washroom areas and as part of the centre’s signage to create a cohesive and identifiable design.
