Located just around the corner from Liverpool Street Station, 155 Bishopsgate is part of the Broadgate complex, the largest pedestrianised neighbourhood in central London – with places to stay, meet, eat, drink and relax all set around a central plaza. Constructed in the late 80s by a Chicago-based architectural firm, the office building still reflects the Chicago-esque feel of its original design today, particularly in its vast reception area.

The building has recently been extensively refurbished but its original style influenced the new design brief and the spacious new washroom areas which we delivered are no exception.

Perhaps the first thing that you notice when you step into the new washrooms at 155 Bishopsgate is the striking concrete vanities. Complete with circular ceramic countertop sinks to complement the circular mirrors and pendant lighting with filament-style LED bulbs above, the vanities help to create the contemporary washroom space, giving it an unique industrial chic feel.

In contrast to the earthy tones of the concrete vanities is the bold ‘Blue Fes’ Fenix laminate which was specified on our Alto FENIX toilet cubicles – one of 15 colours available in the range. As well as being ultra matt and soft to the touch, Fenix laminate also brings with it numerous high-performance benefits including being impact resistant, hydro repellent and thermally self-healing. We used the same ‘Blue Fes’ Fenix laminate to face the Concerto duct panels behind each WC, which are designed to be easy-to-clean and aid access for future maintenance or repair, while concealing unsightly pipework.

We incorporated bespoke mouldings around the edge of each full height toilet cubicle door to add more depth to the design while the brass effect hardware provides contrast against the dark blue, for a washroom that is both on-trend and timeless. The Alto FENIX cubicle is part of the popular Alto range of full height, floor to ceiling cubicles, which includes Alto Kristalla, Alto Laminate and Alto real wood veneer, all designed using a wide range of finishes and colours to meet any given brief.

Together with our partner company and joinery fit-out specialist, Cre8 Joinery Solutions, we also delivered numerous bespoke joinery elements as part of the project including the DDA lift lobby and the new reception area.
