Monochrome superloos, change area and reception at One Smart’s Place, London
We’ve created a striking new reception area plus contemporary monochrome superloos and a cycle change area as part of a refurbishment at a modern office space in London.
One Smart’s Place, a contemporary office building with ground floor retail units, is located in the heart of Covent Garden, on the corner of High Holborn and Smart’s Place. It has recently been refurbished to provide nearly 40,000 sq ft of modern office accommodation over seven floors, each with its own terrace.
Together with our in-house joinery division, Cre8 Joinery Solutions, we installed bespoke concrete faced wall panelling in the reception area, complete with the One Smart’s Place logo, to make a memorable first impression on visitors to the building. The specialist 15mm panels are manufactured by French brand, Panbeton, using unique technology to create ultra-lightweight panels using genuine raw concrete. It also boasts a simple attachment system to make the installation process as smooth as possible.
As part of the refurbishment, we also designed, manufactured and installed unisex superloos on each floor of the building to maximise the available floor space. Each self-contained cubicle has its own toilet and wall-mounted vanity unit, with our full height Alto toilet cubicle doors providing complete privacy for office staff.
Manufactured in white high pressure laminate, the Alto toilet cubicle doors were completed with matching Corian solid surface edging for a unique finish, while the flush front design creates a seamless façade for a sleek, contemporary look. The black ironmongery specified for the door signage and locks, which matches the rest of the black washroom accessories, including the soap dispensers, taps and wall-mounted light, stands out against the bright white cubicles for the monochrome design.
We also created the toughened low iron glass back-painted wall panelling for each toilet cubicle. Working with low iron glass removes the traditional green-blue tint to ensure the back-painted panels were as true a colour as possible.
The basement of the building is home to the staff cycle storage and changing area, which was also refreshed to complement the new monochrome washroom design. Here we installed our stylish glass iLockers, with the rounded-edged glass doors back-painted in a crisp white to contrast with our Legato solid grade laminate benching in black, which we installed underneath the lockers. For the vanities, we created bespoke Corian solid surface units with separate inset sinks to keep the space clean and uncluttered.
