Contemporary office washroom and changing area at Park House, London
This contemporary office washroom and changing area design features innovative materials and bespoke accessories combining to create a unique space.
This landmark nine-storey building in London’s exclusive Mayfair district comprises contemporary office space, nine double-height retail units and 39 luxury privately rented apartments. We designed, manufactured and installed new washroom areas on each floor of the building plus new staff shower and changing areas as part of a comprehensive refurbishment project.
The refurbished male and female washrooms feature our Alto full height toilet cubicles to ensure end-users have complete privacy. We faced each cubicle in Formica F6209 Prestige Walnut Laminate which has an attractive realistic woodgrain effect and matt finish as well as being hardwearing and easy to keep clean.
Setting off the walnut coloured doors, are the bespoke, specially procured architectural pull handles in stainless-steel complete with backplate to the exterior of each cubicle. The traditional lever style door handles give it the feeling of a domestic rather than commercial setting and make each cubicle feel more like a room than a stand-alone cubicle. Inside each cubicle door we installed thumbturn mortice locks in the same finish as the handles, precision engineered to withstand the pressures of a high traffic environment.
We also designed and manufactured bespoke Corian solid surface vanity units as part of the new washroom design. The crisp rectangular units were specified in designer white and feature individual concave sinks and integrated waste bins as well as wall-mounted taps to maintain clean lines as part of the design. Our Tego hinged mirrors, which we installed above each vanity unit, provide a neat and compact hidden storage and dispensing solution for washroom essentials such as paper towels and soap – perfect for a busy office washroom environment.
Increasingly office buildings like Park House are expected to provide shower and changing facilities for staff to use with a luxury health club style design often favoured – this project is an excellent example of this in action. In addition to the Corian solid surface vanity units and toilet cubicles, we also provided the large shower and changing cubicles.
Our Alto cubicles, which we designed in an extra large size to comfortably accommodate both a shower and dry changing area, offered the ideal solution with the full height cubicle doors providing complete privacy for staff.
Each cubicle door was faced in FENIX NTM matt finish laminate in a rich blue colour (0754 Blue Fes) and features the same specially procured architectural door handles and thumbturn mortice locks as the washroom cubicles. As well as the attractive deep blue colour and super matt finish, the FENIX laminate also brings with it a host of additional benefits including thermal self-healing, impact resistance and enhanced anti-bacterial properties.
We installed innovative stealth self-closing pivot hinges on each cubicle door which works in all swing directions up to 360° with the hinge invisible once fitted. Every little detail makes a project, even if they can’t be seen.
