Solid surfacing is the generic name given to materials such as Corian which are an advanced blend of pure acrylic polymer, pigments and natural mineral fillers.
Supplied in sheets generally 12mm thick with the colour /pattern running consistently all the way through, solid surfacing lends itself to be cut to any shape, bent & joined with inconspicuous seams to produce a perfectly neat and unified appearance.
Leading edge profiles such as pencil round, bullnose, ovolu, waterfall are easily achievable and can be combined with a seamless coved upstand.
This highly versatile material is easily machined and can therefore be manufactured into almost any shape imaginable.
Vanity tops may be supported on an internal timber framework faced with access under panels in a choice of complementary materials such as HPL & corian.
Alternatively the unit can be supported on inconspicuous cantilever brackets to give a greater sense of space particularly useful in smaller washrooms.
The versatility of solid surfacing makes it ideal for bespoke projects especially those with more complex shapes which are simply unacheivable in other materials. In addtion to being suitable for use with undermounted WHBS, matching/contrasting basins are also available to achieve an almost seamless apprearance.
Together with its non-porous / hence hygienic properties
and warmth of touch, it remains a popular and economic
choice over natural stones.
