Bognor Regis Community College
Striking WC and changing room specifications were throughout at this new-build college on the Sussex coast.
A breaking design feature of the new washroom areas was the carefully planned and executed layout. Having to take into account the social factors of bullying and behavioural issues, two sets of open plan unisex toilets were provisioned for each of the three floors. These consisted of a centrally installed Arpeggio vanity unit in yellow incorporating a stainless steel trough-style washbasin, purposely designed to act as a division between male and female WC areas.
The carefully planned layout allows washroom areas to be overlooked at all times, making for an increased level of supervision and consequently reducing the threat of bullying and behavioural problems. Coordinating all specifications, Intermezzo cubicles were recommended by Washroom Washroom for their sophisticated design, which mixes style with practicality by ensuring all visual aspect points typical of normal cubicles are removed by extending partitions to the floor and ceiling with overhead panels above the door – perfect for a college environment.
Concerto Solid Laminate ducts and Concerto wall panelling completed WC areas, printed in bright yellow to match cubicles and vanity units. Additional provisions were designed and installed for disabled access on each of the three floors with a similarly coordinated colour scheme.
Ground floor male and female changing rooms continued the theme by incorporating Intermezzo cubicles, Arpeggio vanities and similar stainless steel washbasins along with matching Intermezzo shower cubicles and Tempo benching for a durable seating solution. Again disabled provisions were taken into consideration with separate disabled changing, shower and toilet area.
